Saint Catherine's Monastery, an integral part of the Greek Orthodox Church, serves as a testament to centuries of Christian history and devotion. Located on the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt, this ancient monastery is situated at the foot of Mount Sinai, where, according to tradition, Moses received the Ten Commandments. Its enduring presence in this harsh landscape offers visitors a unique opportunity to touch the rich fabric of religious history and cultural heritage.

North of the catholicon there is preserved to this day the well at which Moses met the seven daughters of Jethro, as it is recorded in the scriptures (Exodus 2:15-22). The water is used by the community to this day, by means of a pump.

The Burning Bush, a sacred relic in Saint Catherine's Monastery on the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt, holds a central place in biblical history. This Rubus sanctus (bramble) is believed to be the place where God commanded Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, appearing as a bush that burned but was not consumed. Uniquely, it is the only bush of its kind on Sinai, protected in a chapel behind the apse of the church. Visitors treat it with respect, removing their shoes upon entering. Revered in various faiths, it symbolizes God's presence across different traditions. Moved during the construction of Saint Helena's chapel, this living piece of history offers a tangible connection to ancient narratives, inviting spiritual reflection for all who visit.

After completing your inspiring journey to Mount Sinai, a comfortable bus will transport you back to your accommodation in Sharm El Sheikh.
